Benefits Of Google AdWords
With so many ways of advertising on the Internet the question “Which is the best?” gets brought up a lot. Social Media? Google AdWords? Placing ads on local papers or national blogs? The truth is, depending on what your target market and business model is, there can be advantages to all of the options out there.
One of the popular choices from the list above is Google AdWords. What is it? Simply put, when you search something on Google, there are ads for every result - usually located on a top 3 results box and stacked all down the right side of the results page. Those are created through Google AdWords. It’s something that we use here at Zenuity, and something that fits our market. Here are some advantages to using Google AdWords:
Control. While Google AdWords can be an in-depth way to advertise your site through the Google Network, it gives you a massive amount of control (which you’ll hear about a lot below). In brief, the system gives you control of everything from bidding, to ad placement, to times the ads run, and much more.
Google AdWords allows you to control the cost of your ads and your campaign. You can set a limit to spend a certain amount of money per day. Once you have hit that max limit, your ads will no longer be ran until the next day. This gives you the stress-free ability to try certain ads and budgets and manipulate them as time goes by and you see which is working best. Also, you only pay for clicks – not impressions. This means your ad could show up 500 times a day, but you will only be charged the times it is actually clicked on.

You get to bid for your ad placement. This means you place a bid on how much you would be willing to pay (for an ad with a certain keyword) for every time your ad gets clicked on. There are many options here that will allow you to play around and see what works best. There are also many tools that can help influence this decision.
Tools. The tools on the AdWords program should really be taken advantage of, as they can bring a big advantage towards your campaign. There are tools such as:
the keyword tool - helps you find the best keywords to use
competition - shows what the ‘competition’ is for any given keyword – the higher the competition, the more expensive a worthwhile bid will be.
suggested bid amounts – Google suggests an amount for you to bid to get “x” amount of clicks on your ad. Remember, more clicks = more views, which in turn equal more potential conversions.
Google Analytics – this one should really (and probably will) have its own blog about it, but in all simplicity, it’s a system Google has to track a TON of information with a website of your choice. Some info include: Visits, where visitors are located, what site brought them there, did they search for your site, how long they were there, goals completed, etc. I am aware this is a different system than AdWords, but using them side-by-side creates a heap of information that everyone should take advantage of.
This was a very quick rundown of some of the advantages of Google AdWords. If you are considering using AdWords for your business, there are many lessons that can help you with the process at www.google.com/AdWords. While I do encourage businesses to use this advertising process, it is important to make sure you have a good grip on really how to use it effectively.
